1 Inch Top Spacer, Matte Black Aluminum, Universal Fit

The Greenwood Fence (GWF®) 1-inch Top Spacer is a matte black powder-coated aluminum profile engineered as the water seal at the top of the post, with a secondary application as a modular opening filler for semi-privacy designs within the Modular Composite Fence and Gate System. Cut from the same 13/16 inch wide by 7/16 inch deep universal profile used across the modular system, the spacer installs without fasteners in both applications. In its primary role, the spacer closes the top of the post’s inner side channel above the crown of the Top Rail, forming a water seal that prevents rain and moisture from entering the post’s inner chambers. The pressure-fit Modern Flat Post Cap then installs above the spacer, working with it as a two-layer seal that further protects the post from water intrusion and the freeze-thaw damage that shortens the life of open-top aluminum post systems. In its secondary role, the spacer serves as a modular 1-inch opening filler for semi-privacy panel designs, establishing consistent gap dimensions between infill boards across the panel. In both applications, the spacer is secured by the components that engage it: the pressure-fit post cap locks the top-seal spacer in position, and the load of the surrounding infill boards secures the opening spacers within the panel assembly.
