Not at this time. Our slats are only recommended for a horizontal orientation so they secure to the frame as designed.
What are Greenwood Fence composite products made of?
WPC stands for Wood Plastic Composite, a modern building material made from a blend of recycled wood fibers and recycled plastics. This combination creates a product that looks and feels like natural wood but offers the durability and low maintenance of plastic.
Our composite boards are made from a mix of recycled plastics and eucalyptus tree fibers. Unlike other composites made with bamboo, our slats are stronger and denser, which adds product durability.
Greenwood Fence uses capped WPC boards, meaning each board is wrapped in a protective polymer shield that prevents staining, fading, and damage from the elements.
Unlike traditional wood, WPC won’t splinter, rot, or attract termites, and unlike vinyl, it won’t warp or discolor quickly in the sun. It’s also an eco-friendly choice since it’s made from recycled materials instead of virgin resources.
What makes Greenwood Fence products better than others?
Our boards do not retain moisture.
- Rain, snow, or humidity, our boards stay straight. No warping, no puffing, no problems.
Our fence can stand up to heat.
- Even in extreme sun, our boards hold firm. No drooping, no slump, no failures.
Our fence can withstand the pressure
- Wind, snow, leaning, or daily pressure? No permanent bends. Just bounce-back performance.
Our tongue and groove boards lock in providing you with a solid & strong fence
- No wobble. No bend. Just that solid, premium feel your customers expect.
Our fence is stable year round
- Whether it’s freezing or hot, our boards stay put.
Our polymer shield provides long term protection
- Inferior boards stain, fade, and absorb water. Ours are sealed with a protective outer shell and stay beautiful.
We use real architectural-grade aluminum.
- Other brands use lower-grade aluminum that bends or rusts. Ours is the real deal.
Our powder coating used on our aluminum performs like commercial architecture.
- Used on commercial buildings. Holds its color and finish, year after year.
How thick are the composite boards?
Each board is 0.78” thick.
How thick are the fence posts?
We have two options, residential and commercial.

Residential is perfect for most home installations up to six feet (above ground).

- Wall Thickness: 1.4 mm (0.067 inches)

How long are the fence posts?
Our fence posts are 10 feet. 10 ft length ensures deeper in-ground installation, essential for stability and long-term performance, better leverage against wind loads, and especially ideal in regions with frost lines or shifting soils.
What colors are available for Gates and Fences?
Greenwood offers multiple composite color options for slats, please visit the shop page.
All rails are powder coated black, but can be painted.
What makes a Greenwood Fence modular?
Posts, rails, and inserts are interchangeable. Components are precision machined for a perfect fit, and inserts can be swapped or replaced easily.
Is there a commercial grade fence? What is the difference?
Greenwood Fence offers fencing solutions suitable for both residential and commercial applications. While our modular system uses the same high-quality composite boards and aluminum framing across both categories, the difference comes down to engineering for scale and durability.
- Residential Fencing is designed for single-family homes, providing privacy, security, and aesthetic appeal with a 20-year limited warranty.
- Commercial Fencing is built for larger properties, public spaces, and higher-traffic environments, where durability and reliability are critical. These installations often require stronger posts, reinforced gates, and additional customization for wind resistance and security. Commercial applications carry a 10-year limited warranty.
In short, the difference is not the materials themselves—both use Greenwood’s proven composite and aluminum system—but the design considerations, installation methods, and warranty coverage tailored to the project type. Click here for more information.
Do you have other fence materials, like chain link?
We do not. Greenwood Fence only supplies composite fence and vinyl fence materials for gates and fencing.
Can I use other composite, wood, or other materials with the aluminum posts and rails?
It’s not recommended to use 3rd party materials with our fence and gate system.
Please contact us to discuss your project.
Can Greenwood Fence posts be integrated into existing brick or stone columns?
Yes, Greenwood Fence posts can be installed alongside existing brick or stone columns. However, for a cleaner and more efficient solution, Greenwood Fence offers an ultra-sleek U-channel designed specifically for mounting panels between brick or stone columns, beginning or ending a run into a gate post, or for creating returns to a brick structure.
The U-channel conceals all hardware, maintains a seamless modern aesthetic, and provides a cost-effective alternative to using full posts.
Do you have a self-closing arm, or automatic gate opener?
Greenwood gates will work with self-closing arm devices made for horizontal swing gates. However not with self-closing hinge devices.
For best results and information, please contact our sales team for a recommended device that will meet the requirements for your installation.
Can I use standard door lockset / handle or 3rd party door knob hardware with a Greenwood Gate?
No. Because of the unique design, we do not recommend retrofitting the gate handle or latching mechanism. If you have an installation that requires hardware not included with the gate kit, please contact us for compatibility questions.
Durability & Maintenance
Are Greenwood Fences waterproof?
Yes, our materials are 100% waterproof.
Are Greenwood Fences combustible / What is the fire rating?
Greenwood Fence Boards carry a “Class B” fire rating. While not fireproof, they are more resistant than traditional wood to flare-ups.
Aluminum posts, rails, and slat infills are non-combustible. Aluminum may soften or melt with very extreme temperatures, but will not burn.
Do Greenwood Fences have a wind rating?
Yes. Our fences are engineered to withstand up to 110 mph winds. During Hurricane Ian, only minor post damage was reported, which was covered under warranty.
We also offer design options for increased wind flow.
Can Greenwood Fence products be power washed?
Yes, fences can be safely cleaned with a power washer to remove dirt, salt, or debris.
Do Greenwood Fences require painting or staining?
No. Our fences are designed to retain their color and finish without the need for painting, sealing, or staining.
What if a panel of the fence is damaged?
If a slat is damaged, it can be replaced. All fence systems are modular and can be deconstructed to replace any part of the fence or gate system.
If you need replacement boards or parts, please contact us.
